  SEP 6-9, 2020 – Golden, CO 

We arrive in Golden CO and are booked into the city owned RV Park, Clear Creek RV Park. We’re a 15min walk to downtown!!!

We get some provisions at the Safeway and head to our spot. Unfortunately we are in one spot with only an electric hook up for 1 night and have to move to another to get sewer, electric and water hookups for the second and third nights. It’s very hot so we need the AC for a few hours to cool the coach down. We don’t use it overnight as it cools down enough to have good sleeping temperatures. 

Golden has a mask mandate so even if you’re walking along the trails by the creek everyone is supposed to wear one. Nearly everyone is. We are perfecting the covid swerve when we encounter those without.

We walk along the trail some on Sunday, when it’s really hot, and see a number of people trying to tube in the creek in spite of the barricades and closure warnings. On Monday it’s not nearly as hot as expected. The wind is a bit cooling so we explore into town some. We find the area of houses where it’s somewhat historic and then come upon the athletic facilities for the Colorado School of Mines.  It’s a nice walk…. 

The forecast is coming in that it will cool down, rain and there’s a chance of snow. Turns out Tuesday is all rainy…. Not too much snow. Though by Wednesday morning, there are a few inches and I climb the back ladder to work at getting the snow off the slide cover with the 16’ extendable pole and big brush. Fortunately it works… and off we go.

Heading to Utah, and pausing along the way for 2 more nights.

  SEP 9-11, 2020 – Silt, CO 

It’s an 11000’ elevation crossing of the Rockies through Vail Pass. There’s fog, snow, and all sorts of mess but there wasn’t much traffic. We landed in a quiet RV park in Silt, CO. We are next to the Colorado River and enjoy the views.

Next stop – Utah and the Big 5 National Parks…..
