Walvis Bay, Namibia
22-29 Dec 2017

Departed from South Africa to Namibia for a slowdown moment. 7 days in one place!!

It was an easy trip from Joburg to Walvis Bay where we called a taxi to drive us to our flat on the bay. What a pretty place. It’s very quiet and lots of bird life wandering around.  We are on the upper level so the views are terrific either from inside or outside on the covered deck. It’s spacious and well stocked. Our host offered to take us to the grocery store as it was too far to walk for our first stock up of the basics.

We take a number of walks around. It’s very dry and mostly desert. We found a nearby golf course but it too was a desert!!! The tees and the greens were grassy, but everything else was sand and scruff. No need for sand traps here!!

Most of the waterfront in WB is part of the large port and not accessible. We did find a tucked away spot where there are some restaurants and tour boats for hire. Somewhat pretty but tiny. On one morning we found a waterfront restaurant serving a nice breakfast while we watched hobie cats racing.
